My aunt is having a baby and so I was wondering what I should knit and have decided on this. Cute, isn’t it?

Hat and Booties

SKILL LEVEL:  Easy SIZE: 3-6 mos CORRECTIONS: None

Hat and Booties

Lion Brand® Wool-Ease® GAUGE: 18 sts = 4 in. [10 cm] in St st (k on RS, p on WS). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles. STITCH EXPLANATION: K1, p1 Rib (over an even number of sts) Row 1: *K1, p1; rep from * across. Rep Row 1 for K1, p1 Rib.

HAT Cast on 62 sts. Work in Garter st (k every st on every row) for 5 rows. Change to St st (k on RS, p on WS) and work until piece measures about 5 in. (12.5 cm) from beg, end with a WS row. Next (Eyelet) Row: *K2, k2tog, yo; rep from * across to last 2 sts, k last 2 sts. Purl 1 row. Change to K1, p1 Rib and work until piece measures about 7 in. (18 cm) from beg. Bind off. FINISHING Seam sides of Hat. Weave in ends. Drawstring Cast on 73 sts. Knit 1 row. Bind off. Weave Drawstring through Eyelet Row. BOOTIES (make 2) Foot Cast on 32 sts. Work in Garter st for 5 rows. Row 1: Knit. Row 2: Purl. Rows 3 and 4: Rep Rows 1 and 2. Row 5: Bind off 6 sts, k to end of row – 26 sts rem. Row 6: Bind off 6 sts, p to end of row – 20 sts rem. Work in K1, p1 Rib for 2 1/2 in. (6.5 cm). Bind off. FINISHING Fold cast on edge of Bootie in half and seam for sole. Sew a continuous seam at front of Bootie as follows: seam ends of Rows 1-4 tog, then seam bound-off sts of Rows 5 and 6 for top of foot and first 1 1/4 in. (3.2 cm) of ribbed portion. Weave in ends.
